Born and raised in the North West of Russia, in my early twenties
I had found myself residing on Martha's Vineyard, the place I have been calling home for over a decade. Having several unrelated art degrees, I have toyed with the idea of studying illustration, but at the time I chose to be pragmatic, started a family, and nearly gave up on my love for creating.
That was until 2020, the year, when so many of us had to take a pause in their daily routine and find ways to spend their days filled with nothing but uncertainty and time. I have done a lot of photorealism in graphic pencils in my early years, when art was just a hobby, but that year I have finally gathered the courage to explore color, and fell in love with the broadened capabilities of capturing the views I am surrounded by everyday, while keeping my interest in depicting even the smallest details in my paintings, in hopes, to keep them worthy of more than just a glance over.
For many reasons I consider myself lucky, but when it comes to art, the island has provided the resources to learn and create, including the abundance of subjects that I choose to reflect in my paintings. I love the pace of the island life, and often I try to capture that peace and serenity of being near the ocean, woods and small fishing towns.
